Family and Equal Opportunities studies conclude places in the senior center in Ulea (20/11/2015)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, and the mayor of Ulea, Victor Manuel Lopez, today visited the Center of Attention to the elderly of the town, where he said the minister, his department studies conclude places like Day Centre through the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS).

Thomas Violante commented on the quality of services provided to the elderly in the municipality, adding that "you can establish a partnership in the center of the municipality, as the mayor asking us to pay attention to Older People Experiencing Unit ".

"The aim is to promote active and healthy aging, which promotes personal autonomy, integration and full participation, because the elderly are the pillars of our families, society, and the recognition they have earned deserve" said Thomas Violante.

The Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities provides services to about 9,000 seniors in the region of Murcia.

In 2015 the region already has 2,457 public places available in nursing homes.

During the year 2015 there have been more than 350 workshops on gerontogimnasia, crafts, poetry, theater, painting and intergenerational exchanges, among others.

There are more than 30,000 active higher in the region in one or more activities organized in these workshops.

The counselor explained that are developing programs for various groups, such as early intervention for children, promotion of autonomy for people with intellectual disabilities and reconciling work and family life for women.

The day center for people with intellectual disabilities is managed by the Association of People with Disabilities Ricote Valley (Adivar), amounting to 146,952.46 euros.

The Minister also referred to programs reconciling work and family life for women in the municipality.

Violente Thomas explained that "the financing of the Directorate General of Women includes recreational and educational projects for Ulea school holiday periods, for children between 3 and 12 years, with extended hours in schools and extracurricular activities, services' kangaroo 'or timely care. "

The regional government, through the Directorate General of Women this year has allocated 400,000 euros to promote the reconciliation of work, personal and family through direct aid to 45 municipalities in the region.

The offer of subsidized services is dedicated to the care of children whose parents are working or participating in training activities for employment.
