The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, met today with the mayors of Ojós, Pablo Melgarejo, and Ulea, Víctor Manuel López, with whom he addressed the situation of the municipalities of Vega Media del Segura affected by the presence of black flies.

Last year, the Ministry began successfully the first pilot treatment against the insect in Ojós, through the use of environmentally friendly biolarvicides, with the collaboration of a world expert in this type of procedure, the German doctor Heiko Kotter.

The effectiveness of the products to fight the larvae of flies and mosquitoes reaches between 95 and 100 percent.
