The Ministry of Presidency and Development has completed the reconstruction of a slope and a wall on the road RM-523, which connects Ulea with the A-30 (Albacete-Murcia-Cartagena), which had a budget of 345,000 euros And a period of execution of three months.

This action returns safety to this road, which was affected by the rainy season last December and has an average traffic intensity of 365,000 vehicles a year.

This was explained today by the Director General of Highways, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, during his visit to the road where he was accompanied by the Mayor of Ulea, Victor Manuel López.

"This action has increased the protection and containment of the road and prevents new landslides from occurring on the road," said the director, who explained that the works have consisted of rebuilding the slope that collapsed due to the rains and that Was supported by a stone wall.

José Antonio Fernández added that to carry out the work it was necessary to dismantle the metal barrier of protection, the signage, the vegetal mesh, the network of irrigation and the affected tree.

The embankment was also rehabilitated and a wall of concrete slab was constructed, as well as a new drainage network by means of downspouts, claddings and gutters;

And an underground drainage network through the placement of drainage pipe and outlet piping.

Finally, the protection barrier, signage, irrigation network and trees were replaced.

Emergency works

Ten of the 12 emergency works planned in nine municipalities of the Region that were affected by the rain and snow storms of December and January have already been completed, with a total investment of 1.5 million euros.

Specifically, in addition to that of Ulea, the rehabilitation works on the RM-515 (Alhama de Murcia-Mula) roads have already been completed;

RM-512 (Cieza-Abarán);

RM-F56 (Cabezo de la Plata-Sucina);

RM-F51 (Torre Pacheco-Pozo Estrecho);

RM-C7 (Totana-Ermita de las Huertas);

RM-512 (Cieza-Abarán);

RM-D11 (Puerto Lumbreras-Lorca);

RM-D3 (N-340 to RM-D1, in Lorca);

And RM-C26 (Binding to RM-C2).

In the coming weeks, work will be completed on the RM-F20 (Balsicas-Avileses), and on the RM-D13 road (Emita de El Garrobillo, in Aguilas, on the RM-11 highway).
