The Ministry of the Presidency, through the Directorate General for the Environment, is running along the Segura basin, a consolidation of slopes in the village of Ulea in order to strengthen and stabilize the clumps located on Mount La Solana and guarantee the safety and protection of nearby houses.
This initiative is undertaken in the mount number 136, called La Solana, Las Lomas, The Navela and La Serrata, the municipality of Ulea, and is financed by the Structural Funds for Regional Development of the European Union FEDER funds.
The works will be carried out over the coming months, is expected to be concluded by 31 December this year and will involve an investment of 796 648 euros.
The works consist mainly of placing the foot of the slope, dynamic barriers for protecting homes against possible falling rocks, dikes and flexible antidetritus inside most prominent grooves torrents, in order to avoid erosion and contain debris flow and mud flow that can lead to rain events.
Also stabilize unstable boulders those most at risk of detachment by 1,400 square meters of high strength metallic membranes anchored to the rock and eventually plant will be a restoration of the area with 3,888 units of native species to improve stability soil.
Development works
During the months of May, June and July are installed dynamic barrier 690 meters, and has required the intervention of a helicopter for lifting and placement of posts that make the same, and the 351 square meters of flexible dams antidetritus in existing gullies on the slope.
The stabilization of loose blocks at risk of detachment by high strength metal membranes is scheduled for September and October, a performance that require the helicopter to transport intervention meshes.
Finally, during the months of October and November will be held plantations.
