The Autonomous Community of Murcia, through the Directorate General of Highways, will invest 1.5 million euros to expand the Segura River Bridge that connects Ulea with Villanueva, a performance that will improve communication between municipalities in the Valley Ricote.
The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, today visited the infrastructure accompanied by the mayor of Ulea, José Bolarín.
The bridge will have two lanes, one in each direction of movement, "implying a much more fluid communication between the two populations, avoiding traffic and increase road safety for drivers," said José Ballesta.
The expansion works of the current platform will begin next year, it will build a new parallel to the current board, which will go from five to ten meters.
Furthermore, it is a path that outputs to drivers from Ricote Valley to the A-30.
Revitalization of the architectural heritage
The counselor also visited his department works executed in the environment of the church of San Bartolomé, declared of Cultural Interest.
The work, funded 75 percent by Public Works and 25 percent by the City, is the rehabilitation of two buildings located in this area of special architectural interest.
Within the Architecture Program, the Ministry will also undertake the renovation of the urban image of the neighborhood for new home and finance the drafting of the proposed refurbishment of the Plaza de la Constitution.
The actions to be undertaken in the neighborhood of new homes that are currently being recruited, will homogenize the urban image of the four blocks that make up the neighborhood, located on the outskirts of Ulea.
The intervention has a cost of 493,552 euros and will be funded 50 percent by Public Works and City Hall.
In addition, the Ministry has funded the drafting of the conditioning of the Plaza de la Constitution.
This square, site for the church of St. Bartholomew and the Town Hall, is considered the hub of the town, it is the main meeting point for residents of the municipality, so the project will benefit directly to Ulea neighbors. "
In this sense, José Ballesta said "there are three activities of general interest that will revitalize the architectural heritage of Ulea through the upgrading of those which feature environmental and architectural uniqueness."
